In France: the GAMS

The GAMS is recognized as the French section of the Inter African Committee (IAC). The GAMS was established in Paris in 1982.
In Europe, the IAC is represented by four groups/ sections. Who is directly concerned? On the African continent where maternal and infant mortality is the highest in the world, more than 130 million women and girls in 26 countries are concerned by female genital mutilation.
In France, about 30.000 are concerned. However, women and girls in other parts of the world also suffer from FGM: in Yemen, Indonesia, Malaysia, Bahrain, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Saudi-Arabia, India, but also in the immigrant community in the occidental countries like the United States, Canada, Norway, Finland, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Australia, Sweden, United Kingdom and Belgium among others. .

In Africa: the Inter African Committee (IAC)

It consists of 26 national committees on traditional practices affecting the health of women and children. The IAC was established at Dakar in 1984.

The GAMS provides assistance to you:

To obtain support and counsel in order to better react to situations of excision, of polygamy and of forced or precocious marriage;
To organize prevention and awareness campaigns;
To enrich your professional training program with a class on traditional practices affecting the health of women and children;
To do research for a thesis.
