Al Q'ala of Beni Hammad
Algeria - released in 1967
In a mountainous site of extraordinary beauty, the ruins of the first capital of the Hammadid emirs, which was founded in 1007 and demolished in 1152, provide us with an authentic picture of a fortified Moslem city. Its mosque, with its prayer room, containing 13 naves and 8 banks of seats, is one of the largest in Algeria.
