Introduction

This site is using some CSS2 features that are working only with recent browsers. For now, the standard version is working with the last versions of Safari, Omniweb, Mozilla, Firefox and Opera but not with IE (The "light" and "HTML" version should work with this browser).

If you have problems reading this site, you can try any of the following versions :

• The standard version.
• Exactly the same site, but wiith a xhtm extension (ISPs problems workaround).
• The light version.
• The HTML version.
• The XML version.

As this site is mainly a tool to experiment with XML technologies, its content may not be updated very frequently.

The software

The five software programs you can download here are :

• PostgreSQLX : The PostgreSQL server for Panther with a Cocoa GUI to help set it up and customize it.
• xbSync : A simple backup and synchronization tool.
• xbGui : A graphical interface to a few unix commands.
• xbMovieSaver : A full featured screen saver for playing your favorite movies.
• xbMovieMaker : A Tool to create your own screen savers.

About this site

This site is not using anything dynamic (no mysql, no php). Why ? Because it's served by, at least, by 3 providers (Apple, Wanadoo and me), and there is no way to share anything between them.

I had to find a solution to generate static content, and I found nothing except the "do it yourself" method.

For interrested people, here is the way this site is build :

• Articles and page are build using XML format.
• XML is processed with saxon using a few xsl to generate all the versions.
• Modified pages are uploaded with sitecopy.

Of course, all of this is automated using xCode with customized build targets.

This method had the (only) advantage of making me learn XML, XSL and XPath.

The latest updates are :

• 2004-11-27 : Reworked the site (Special IE version, minor changes).
• 2004-08-17 : The 0.3 version of PostgreSQLX.
• 2004-07-31 : A new download : PostgreSQLX.
• 2004-04-25 : Wanted to try xml/xslt, so, this site (xhtml and html content) is now build from xml content transformed via xslt.
• 2004-04-18 : The french version is back online.
• 2004-04-13 : A note about the now famous "Intego MP3 virus"(french).
• 2004-04-12 : Starting the "Great things" page.
• 2004-04-11 : Done the links page.
• 2004-04-10 : fourth (fifth maybe ?) full site redesign. This time using CSS (1 and a bit of 2) and xhtml, just to see how it works. This site should work with browsers supporting xhtml & css.
