NEWSLETTER N° 11

September 2009

As a new season kicks-off, I’m proud, and slightly amazed, to announce that
Drama Ties is 10 years old

They say that time flies when you’re enjoying yourself...it’s hard to believe the adventure started in the last century.

The Story Hunters

CRÉATION
To celebrate we’ve created our 10th show, the charming and inventive Story Hunters, directed by Dario Costa, who has been with Drama Ties since the very beginning. The show is on tour now for primary and 6e students, and will be playing in Paris in April.

verdict of sorcery

CRÉATION
And we’re not stopping there: after three years of touring, ShakesPod has been switched off, and we are replacing it with a new show for lycéens, called Verdict of Sorcery, which tells the story of the Salem Witch Trials, through the eyes of a modern-day teenager. The show premiers in March at the Vingtième Théâtre, and will be on tour afterwards.

our partnerships

We’re also delighted to be continuing our partnerships in France and across the Channel with well-established institutions, namely the British Council, the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain, the Comité Central d’Action Sociale, the Rectorat de Créteil, the DAAC de Paris, the Conseil Général du Val d’Oise…
We continue to work with teacher-training establishments all over France, to offer theatre techniques in English, to trainee and qualified teachers.

I’m very lucky to head up a team of actors and collaborators, committed
to running all the aspects of a Theatre-in-Education company.
I’d like to thank them all, and last but not least, you, the teachers and facilitators, old and new, whom we’ve had the pleasure to work with and perform for.

I’m delighted that, within 10 years, we’ve established ourselves as one of the leading English-speaking theatre groups in France, allowing young people to experience, both as spectators and as actors, the creative benefits of drama.
