Personal Interests

My hobbies are mainly role-playing games, wargames, and computers.

Role-Playing Games

Role-Playing games are meetings with friends around a table, where you play the role of a fantasy character. You don't really do things, you imagine them. A Game Master put the players in all sorts of situations, the players imagine those situations, and make their character live and react to them. It's a very equilibrating activity, since it provide a "somewhere else" to go, or a "something else" to think, whenever you want.

The game we usually play is AD&D®. My campaign is set in the World of Greyhawk® from Gary Gygax (owned by TSR). My partners in these games are Jérôme, François, Didier and Rodolphe, Franck, and some other players from time to time. I am sometimes the GM, sometimes a player. I have been involved in this activity since about 1984.

See my very Thin French Greyhawk Page.

Disclaimer : I am neither schizophrenic nor crazy, this is just a game...

Wargames

Wargames (or Historic Games as we say in France) are played around a map representing the field where the real action / battle took place. You re-do famous battles / wars, using the forces which were available historicaly, but using your own strategy.

My favorites are World in Flames (Australian Design Group), Flat Top (Avalon Hill) and Pacific War (Victory Games). World in Flames is a Strategic simulation of the whole WWII from September 39 to August 45. The possibility even exist to start in 1936 and play until 1946. Flat Top is a Tactical simulation of Carrier Battles in the South Pacific in 1942. Pacific War is a Strategic game which simulate the whole Pacific War, from 7 December 1941 to 15 august 1945.

My partners in these games are Jérôme, Philippe, Michel, Laurent, Raphael, Didier and Stéphane. I have been involved in this activity since about 1981.

Disclaimer : I do not love war, I do not want to wage war on anybody, this game represents just an intellectual and harmless contest.

Racing

I like CART Racing (new name of the Indycar Racing) and Formula One. I've even done a few Go Kart races, and wasn't bad at all. I wish for Villeneuve were World Champion in 1999 with the B.A.R. team !!!

By the Way, if you are a Formula One Team Manager and have a wheel of a Formula One to lend to a REAL pilot, contact me, I am available right now !!! :-)
