1- At first nails were applied at regular intervals, in varying quantity.
2- Then bigger nails with round (hemispheric) heads.
3- With squarehead nails of different metals it was possible to make designs.
4- For more complicated designs, nails with round (cylindrical) heads were used.
5- With hexhead nails the wooden boule is completely covered.
6- Round flathead nails were appropriate for more complex designs.
7- With fishscale nailing a perfectly smooth surface could be achieved.
