ROLLS & PLEATS issue No.22

July-Aug.-Sept. 2006

CONTENTS:

MOONEYES' YOKOHAMA SHOW

Like every year, we treat you to exclusive photo coverage of Mooneyes' December show in Yokohama, which is the biggest and best indoor show in Japan. As far as we know, no other magazine outside of Japan has covered the show this year! See Nash Yoshi's wild wagon and Junichi's (of "Rod-Riguez" fame) new roadster!

DETROIT AUTORAMA

Full coverage of this famous show, now in its 54th year, including the 100,000 square foot "basement" which the organizers dedicated to traditional rods and kustoms. Some amazing new cars debuted there!

GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW

Just like the Detroit Autorama with its new "basement", this year's Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, California dedicated a special area to traditional rods and kustoms - the "Suede Palace". We show you all the latest rods and kustoms, including some amazing restored dragsters!

DECALCOMANIA PART 2: MONTE

After the very popular feature on '50s decals in our last issue, we come back with dozens of truly wild and rare decals from obscure So-Cal artist Monte. Amazing art that would make great tattoos, or would look good painted on a car!

BRUSHES, NEEDLES & BURNOUTS

Last October, New York's Kustom Kulture Gallery invited some of the USA and Japan's finest artists to perform live art at the gallery's big annual show. Some truly mind blowing art here!

BONNEVILLE SPEED WEEK

The last Speed Week was not a good one for racing, as the salt was wet and rough from earlier storms. The event was also cut short after 4 days due to another downpour which filled the lake bed with water... but some of the rods there were breathtaking!
