metres.
It is the ideal destination to make a discovery trip in this unique site

Geological formation
The Erciyes (3916m), Hasandag and Gölludag moutains
situated in this region were active volcanos in the geological ages. Two
to ten million years ago, projected lavas made tuff layers of 100 to 150
metres thick with different hardness. Rivers, lakes rain and wind have
eroded and modified the plateau to form those spectacular landscapes, the
earth pillars and all those wonderful valleys where it's so pleasant to
hike.
Prehistory
Over 16000 obsidian, stone or bone tools found in
Cappadocia prove there was a settlement in the neolithic ages.
The Hittites (3000-1750 av JC)
The hittites came from europe, settled in Cappadocia and
found an empire. Mettallurgy, trade, writing and crafts are special
features.
The Persians (582-332 av JC)
They ruled this region and named it "Katpatoka"
witch means "the land of race horses"
The Romans (17-395)
They invaded the area and apened a road to get to the Aegean
sea. Kayseri, the capital of Cappadocia, grew. The first Christians
settled and started to live a monastic life in the rocks.
The Byzantines (397-1071)
At the time of the split of the roman empire and because Leon
three forbid the idolatry of icons (under the influence of Islam),
Christian monks took refuge in Cappadocia and hollowed out hundreds of
cave churches which have been preserved and are still visible today.
The Seldjoukides (1071-1299)
