the many kilometres of woodland tracks without even leaving Vergnette or
venture out onto the local tracks and lanes, where the gentle rolling
limestone geology of the area makes either of the above activities a
pleasure. |

There are many golf courses in the region, the best being at Cognac,
which is a forty minute drive. Please click here to access

 | Fishing:
The Charente River runs past the bottom of
our garden and a full fishing license can be bought for 30€
per week. |
 | Wildlife:
Vergnette is a haven for an abundance of wildlife. Sit next to
the stream in the orchard and watch the herons, buzzards, kingfishers and many
other species of bird going about their daily routines. Deer, wild boar
and hare run freely in the forest and can often be seen in the early morning
going to the stream at the bottom of the garden to drink. |
 | Chill out by the pool:
Our
private in-ground 11 x 5M pool is the place to be on those long hot summer
afternoons, normally open from the beginning of June until mid September
it is fenced for safety and privacy and fully equipped with pool furniture. |
 | Eating out:
There are several outstanding restaurants located within 10 minutes of
Vergnette and many more just further afield.
All welcome children and are reasonably priced whether haute
cuisine or a simple pizza and salad is on offer. In a little under two hours you can be in the heart of the
Bordeaux wine growing region, take a tour of one of the St Emilion Chateaux then have lunch in one of the many restaurants in this ancient town. It will be a day to remember and you will be pleasantly surprised by the low cost of quality food and wine.
