saturday 28th november 2009 FULL
additional performance Friday, November 27
TARMAC of Châteauroux 8.30 pm
The Night of Berry is a show for all the berrichons whether they are native or not. It has been conceived in a spirit of exchanges around an open heritage where anyone could draw what makes for him the identity of Berry and discover other aspects of it...
«Behind the bushes» will evoke for your pleasure the life in and around the hedges in a show where the elapsing time will emphasize the everlastingness and the richness of our past and future berrichon patrimony .
Bourrées, mazurkas and polkas, waltzes and ring dances, to the sound of hurdy-gurdies and bag-pipes, what could be more reinvigorating, more rejoicing than to see dancers, all generations together, eager to demonstrate that the pleasure of dancing is still strong and that our Berry has a culture and a soul of its own even if it cannot prove a sheer identity.
The show is asuccession of dances which figures have, for some of them, been adapted in order to deal with the large number of dancers, it is full of songs and music. It is by no means a folklorique show even if it is based on the berrichon repertoire, but it stands as a choreographic creation with an original music score in a staging which resolutely assumes its modernity.
As a conclusion to this evening there will be a big bal, because if, as Beaumarchais puts it, everything ends up in songs, here in Berry everything ends up in dances.
240 performers will be on stage
170 dancers, 40 musicians, 30 singers, all of them from the following groups of traditionnal dance and music (Chants et Danses du Berry (Chateauroux), Les Sonneurs de la Vallée Noire (La Châtre), la Guérouée de Gâtines (Valencay), les Tréteaux du Pont-Vieux (Argenton), la Rabouilleuse (Issoudun)and les Gâs du Berry (Nohant) as well as members of groups such as les Brioleux from Le Poinçonnet, la Chaînée Castelloise from Le Châtelet, les Forestiens from la Forêt du Temple, la Pastourelle from Saint Gaultier, les Thiaulins from Lignières and dance schools from Arthon, Chassignoles, Neuvy Saint Sépulchre and Saint Denis de Jouhet, and many individuals who share the same passion for the berry culture.
with guests : Alinéa, Belle Germaine et Cyril Huvé
The show will end with a folk dance bal featuring La Bête Noire, Les Genoux and Tradioactif
