Introduction
The
Behavioral-Finance
Group / forum
is a community that values its members. It is tolerance, and mutual
respect, that embodies this community and makes us proud to be members.
Membership in this group is available to all on an equitable basis, regardless
of the origin, age, background, or views. The ethos of this group is that all
members should have free access in an atmosphere of intellectual freedom and
free inquiry.
Much of the early history of BF is a case study in the difficulty of presenting
different points of view about economics and finance current and historical
issues. Legitimate research should not be proscribed because of partisan or
doctrinal disapproval.
Threads in this group should be for the interest, information, and enlightenment
of all regardless of the beliefs or affiliations of those contributing to their
creation.
The Terms and Conditions should be understood as a balanced attempt at

which is stated below - essentially by keeping the content focused on its topics.

General
This
is a moderated group whose purpose is
· to support the growing community of
researchers and practitioners interested in Behavioural Finance / Behavioural Economics.
· also, to help the general public have
a better knowledge of the findings and implications of that expanding field of
knowledge
All
individuals who are interested are welcome.
All
posting must be in English. Please note that many members of the group,
including the owner and two of the moderators, have a native language other than
English.
Topic
It
is expected that posts will be in some way related to the above-stated purpose
of the group.

You
agree, through your membership in the group, not to post
· any material which is false,
defamatory, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, threatening,
invasive of a person's privacy, and / or in violation of the law.
· any copyrighted material unless the
copyright is owned by you or you have written consent from the owner of the
copyrighted material.
Anyone
who joins the group and, in the opinion of the owner or moderators, causes
intentional disharmony, harm or disruption, may have their membership removed. Trolls are not tolerated.
Spam (*), flooding, advertisements, chain letters, pyramid schemes; and solicitations are also inappropriate to this group and not tolerated.
(*) Of course, we are open to occasional presentations of works, tools or data sources that are directly BF-related and worthy of interest for the group.
Spamming and trolling are the kind of conduct that we consider unreasonable and which is likely to result in removal of your membership. In such a situation, we will investigate and if we judge a breach of the conditions has occurred we will either:
1. Explain the breach and warn the offender that if they breach the conditions
again, they will be removed.
We only take this option once.
2. Remove the offender immediately.
3. Remove the offender immediately and take whatever other action that may be appropriate.
Standard
netiquette in newsgroups is to include in the header 'OT' (Off Topic) if a new
post is not Clearly and Directly about the group's purpose and the author believes it to be relevant and of interest to members.
Don't Abuse This! We have no respect or time for spammers or trolls who think they are being slick!
We
all want to be able to trust each others' word here and give the benefit of the
doubt. Posters who are considered to be gaming the system are not welcome and may be removed.

Content
breaching the guidance of fair use of copyrighted materials or attribution to
authors of material in the public domain will be subject to removal by the owner
or moderators. Content which is considered to place this group, their owner or
members at risk of legal action will be removed and we reserve the right to take appropriate steps for anything that we suspect is illegal.

Members
can and do argue, often agreeing or disagreeing strongly with other members'
views. We are proud of this. Just please show respect and courtesy towards
others in the group. Remember, it's OK to agree to disagree. The idea is to try
to keep the conversation constructive. We're all here to learn.

respect the authority of the moderators. Keep in mind that much of their work
happens behind the scenes so just because you haven't seen a comment or warning
posted about someone's behaviour doesn't mean that the issue isn't being

Replies
Flaming
· A good rule of thumb: Be
conservative in what you send and liberal in what you receive.
You should not send heated messages (we call these "flames") even if you are provoked.
On the other hand, you shouldn't be surprised if you get flamed and it's prudent not to respond to flames.
·
Don't get involved in flame wars. Neither post nor respond to incendiary material
· If you are caught in an argument,
keep the discussion focused on issues rather than the personalities involved.
· If you should find yourself in a
disagreement with one person, make your responses to each other via mail rather
than continue to send messages to the list or the group. If you are
debating a point on which the group might have some interest, you may summarise for them later.
· Wait overnight to send emotional
responses to messages. If you have really strong feelings about a subject, indicate it via FLAME ON/OFF enclosures. For example:

This type of argument is not worth the bandwidth it
takes to send it. It's illogical and poorly reasoned. The rest of the world agrees with me.

Requests for help
We are a community where members help one another. But some restraint is needed so as not to bother members who expects fundamental debates and information instead of an avalanche of personal queries.
Personal requests for specific advises, topics, documents should be made only as a last resort, except if the informative input in the query message seems of interest for the whole group.
Answers to queries, or to information offers, should be sent via personal messages to the member involved, except again if they seem of interest for the whole group.
The group's files is the normal tool to offer a long document to the group. In case of doubt or technical problems; transmit it first to a moderator.
Abuse
· Never send chain letters via
electronic mail. Chain letters are forbidden on the Internet.
Your network privileges will be revoked. Notify your local system administrator if your ever receive one.

The cost of delivering an e-mail
message is, on the average, paid about equally by the sender and the recipient
(or their organisations). This is unlike other media such as physical mail, telephone, TV, or radio.
Sending someone mail may also cost them in other specific ways like network
bandwidth, disk space or CPU usage.
This is a fundamental economic reason why unsolicited e-mail advertising is
unwelcome (and is forbidden in many contexts).
· Don't send large amounts of
unsolicited information to people.
· Forgeries and spoofing are not approved behavior.
· Just as mail (today) may not be
private, mail are (today) subject to forgery and spoofing of various degrees of
detectability. Apply common sense "reality checks" before assuming a message is valid.
· Sexually and racially harassing
messages may have legal implications. There is software available to filter items you might find objectionable.
General Guidelines
· Read the list for one to two months
before you post anything. This helps you to get an understanding of the culture of the group.
· Do not blame the system administrator for the behavior of the system users.
· Consider that a large audience will
see your posts. That may include your present or your next boss.
Take care in what you write. Remember too, that mailing lists are
frequently archived, and that your words may be stored for a very long time in a place to which many people have access.
· Assume that individuals speak for
themselves, and what they say does not represent their organisation (unless stated explicitly).
· Remember that mail takes system
resources. Pay attention to any specific rules covering their uses your organisation may have.
· Delivery receipts, non-delivery
notices, and vacation programs are neither totally standardised nor totally
reliable across the range of systems connected to Internet mail. They are
invasive when sent to mailing lists, and some people consider delivery
receipts an invasion of privacy. In short, do not use them.
· In general, it's not possible to
retrieve messages once you sent them. Even your system administrator
will not be able to get a message back once you have sent it. This means
you must make sure you really want the message to go as you wrote it.
