Menu
jigsaw cards.
A pair work activity. Like a normal jigsaw puzzle,
learners rearrange the words to make a menu. A possible
solution is given although there may be more than one
acceptable solution.
Happy
families menu. A
variation of the happy families card game. The yes/no
type questions that the learners ask each other can be
questions such as; 'have you got melon on the menu?',
'could I have melon please?' or even ordering expressions
such as 'I'll have melon please?' Appropriate yes/no
responses should be familiar to the learners.
Find
the differences in the
menu.
A pair work activity. Learners ask each other questions
to find the differences in the menu. The questions that
learners ask each other are of the sort; 'is there
chicken curry on the menu?' and 'is the chicken curry
served with rice?' Learners must note that questions of
the sort 'do you have chicken curry served with rice?'
(which defeat the objective of the activity and don't
sound too authentic) should not be considered
appropriate.
