through.
This is
a role play for two learners. There are various options
to the role play. It can be performed in different ways
so the learners can repeat the role play as many times as
they like.

A role play for two learners.
Absent
cards.
A two-part activitiy. The first part elicits expressions
used in circumstances when a person is absent. Possible
answers are; the person is ill; has left the company; is
on a training course; is on a business trip; is in a
meeting; is on the phone; is on holiday and is giving/ in
a presentation. The cards in the second part can be used
as a memory aid for remembering the expressions. For
example, the cards can be used in a version of 'Kim's
game', with the cards placed down on the table or stuck
on the white board with the use of small magnets.
Learners close their eyes and one card is removed. Which
one? You can make it more difficult by shifting the other
cards round a bit. Or the cards can be used (make two
sets first!) in a game of pelmanism.
