The launching of the Encyclopedie Mondiale des Arts de la Marionnette (W.E.P.A.), on 25 September 2009, during the Festival of Charleville, was a great success, like shows this article in the local newspaper, L'Ardennais.

Mrs Isabel ALVES COSTA is dead (1946 - 2009)
Only today, we learn that Mrs Isabel Alves Costa died in Porto in Portugal on August 15, 2009.

Woman of theatre Mrs Alves Costa was an extraordinary organizer which adored the puppets and which was impassioned for their promotion.
She was the founder and the director of the International Puppets Festival of Porto.
She was one of the personalities which founded the first Unima Centre in Portugal.
In the beginning of the year 80, she was interested in the research and the disclosure of the use of the puppets in therapy and she published with Felipa Bagana the first Portuguese book on this topic.
She was the leader of the municipal theatre Rivoli of Porto and started it again in the firmament of the great European theatres.
In 2001, when Porto was selected as European capital of the culture, she was named responsible for the arts on scenes; still there the puppet largely founds its place.
For her engagement about the development of the culture in Europe and in particular between France and Portugal, the French government had awarded to her the medal of Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2006.
That its family receives our homages.
Albert Bagno - International Councillor
